We draw much of our creative energies from the spectacular natural environment that we live and work in. With this as our inspiration we design fragrances to evoke the smell of the sea or the warmth of the sun, and products to help resolve skin problems encountered by local people in such a northerly location.

Handmade traditional soap
Making our own handmade soap is the very core of the Shetland Soap Company. From the ordering of our raw materials, to manufacturing, cutting, curing and labeling we do it all ourselves. Using the “cold process” method we combine Coconut Oil, Organic Columbian Palm Oil, and Cocoa Butter as our soap base to which we add fragrances and essential oils, herbs and spices.
Soap is then poured in block form, left overnight to set, sliced into hand size pieces, trimmed and then left to cure for three weeks until they are ready for sale. The curing allows the “saponification process” to continue, afterwards they are attractively packaged in wrappers that allow them to breathe and remain in tip top condition.

This gentle soothing, antiseptic and healing formula contains tea tree and eucalyptus essential oils and can help treat skin problems such as sun and wind burn, cracked or chapped skin, insect bites, minor cuts, burns rashes or eczema, and even fungal infections.
