Tree and Plant Nursery
Our horticultural business is fast developing into a popular garden centre where the public can browse and purchase a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees.
We specialise in the propagation of hardy, reliable trees and shrubs which will be successful in the Shetland Climate. Special willows from Alaska and Iceland are both excellent for windbreak purposes and are among Cope’s best selling trees.
We have recently doubled the size of the nursery and only recently- on a trial basis- we have commenced work on small nursery plots outside of town
Currently we are operating a project composting waste generated from our catering department -as well as from the local fruit and veg wholesaler-using an innovative industrial composter, Big Hannah. It is hoped that following the success of the pilot to undertake a franchise agreement for the distribution of the machines throughout the North of Scotland.
Both the Nursery and the composting project are available to view or visit next door to the premises of the main COPE offices opposite the power station at the Port Business Park, Lerwick.
