COPE to mark 25th Anniversary with 25-themed celebrations

Shetland social enterprise COPE Ltd will celebrate its 25th anniversary on 25 June this year.

To mark the occasion, the charity is planning an action-packed event at Gilbertson Park which will include a 25-mile relay (walking, cycling and running) and an afternoon of games, raffles, and displays, food and drink.

Chief executive officer of COPE, Steven Coutts, said: ‘We are very proud of what the organisation has achieved over its 25 years. COPE has been life changing for the many participants and staff that have come through the doors and has afforded them the opportunity to be part of something very special, learning new skills, and making a valuable contribution to the business and wider community.

“We wanted to mark the occasion appropriately and take some time to reflect on COPE’s achievements. Following the ‘25’ theme, we will therefore have a 25-mile relay and will mark 25 key milestones in our history.

“To involve the whole community, we are also inviting people to contribute to our 25 metres of bunting challenge. We are asking participants to knit, crochet or sew triangles to form the bunting. A prize will be given for the best-themed triangle. The triangles should measure 20 cm wide x 20 cm deep and the background should be in COPE’s brand colours. For knitters, wool colour matches and a knitting pattern will be available from Shetland Wool Brokers and Jamieson Knitwear.

“We are also hoping to create a photo gallery, so if anyone has COPE-related pictures, we would love them to send these to info@cope.ltd.uk
