COPE’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS HAILED A GREAT SUCCESS

Social enterprise, COPE, proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary with a fantastic Fun Day on Sunday (25 June 2023). The event, held at Gilbertson Park was hailed as great success, bringing participants, supporters, and the local community together to enjoy a range of events in perfect sunshine.

The highlight of the day was the 25-mile relay. There was a great atmosphere during the final laps, as more people joined in and an enthusiastic crowd, which included the Lerwick Up Helly Aa Jarl Squad, urged those taking part towards the finish.

Thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved, the event raised £3946.44 for the charity, which will directly benefit COPE and its participants.

"We are delighted to have reached this incredible milestone and are so grateful to the community for their support,” said chief executive officer, Steven Coutts. “The impressive number of people that joined us demonstrates the goodwill that COPE has gained over the last 25 years. The Fun Day was a great way for everyone to get involved in celebrating our achievements and we are very grateful to everyone who contributed to its overall success.

“The event also acted as a reminder to the wider community of the positive difference that COPE makes to its participants on a day-by-day basis. With a quarter-century of good work behind us, we now look forward to continuing our journey and creating an even more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future for everyone involved.”
