Summer Fun Day at COPE a Great Success

Louise and Jenni gathering a selection of the toys and games available at the Shetland Home Co.As the end of the holidays draws near, it's always difficult to come up with fun activities for the family without breaking the bank. To give a helping hand, the team at COPE opened their doors with a fun day of completely free activities for children. There was a Shetland wild flower trail and a plant quiz in the Garden Co as well as the opportunity to upcycle a range of funky containers from the Home Co to make an original planter for your home or garden.

Children who had completed the trail and the quiz could also pick up a voucher to head over to the Home Co and choose a free book, DVD, music or a toy. A total of almost 30 families came in to take part and everyone was really positive about the initiative. So much so that the activity trail was left in place for the remainder of the holidays.

One parent said "It's marvellous to come in and see everything that you do in the Garden Co and the Home Co and the bairns had a great time. It's so good to have something affordable to do with them too, though I always find something to buy when I come here!"

Osla Jamwal Fraser, COPE's Branding and Marketing Officer, said "It was great to see such a good turn out and to hear bairns and families having fun. Some people happened to stumble upon the event but many had made a special trip to town for it. It was quite magical to see bairns faces light up when they realised they were allowed to choose whatever they wanted in the Home Co! We'll certainly be planning more events like this. It's made for a busy day but a really positive one."
