COPE Volunteering

Volunteers’ Week 2023: Celebrate and Inspire

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), At COPE Ltd we will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.

Our ‘newest’ volunteer is Louis Keogh. Louis is no stranger to COPE having also volunteered for COPE in the late 1990s and also enjoyed a spell as an employee. Louis is now back volunteering in our Shetland Garden Co. one morning a week.

Louis says: “there is always a light atmosphere and good humour running around, but no one forgets there is a job to be done. It feels so rewarding to work with an organisation that has done so much to give so much to people with disabilities the care and respect they deserve. It feels like a privilege to be here.”

At COPE we are extremely grateful for the contribution our volunteers make and it is important we reflect on how they inspire us. In the last year our volunteers have contributed 758 hours of their time to COPE Ltd.

For anyone interested in volunteering with COPE Ltd we would be very pleased to hear from you. We can create a range of tailored opportunities across our three diverse business enterprises. Please email info@cope.ltd.uk or call 01595 696889 for an initial conversation.
